This course includes:

HLTAID009 Provide Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Compliant with ACECQA for the purposes of the Education and Care Services National Law as satisfying first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis management requirements for childcare workers.  The unit teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children, and adults.  The unit applies to childcare workers, educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

​It is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.

During training you will gain the confidence and ability to recognise an emergency situation, identify hazards and make them safer, and provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.

You will also learn the importance of recognising the possible psychological impacts on self, other rescuers and children, talking with children about their emotions and responses to events and participating in debriefing with your supervisor.

HLTAID012 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

HLTAID0011 Provide first aid

HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Course Delivery

This course will be delivered in the workplace or at an approved third party facility.


Please note that enrolment to this course is made with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909. Refer to the student handbook for all details relating to rights and responsibilities including complaints and appeals.

Entry Requirements

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor

Course Duration

  • Face to Face – 8 hours (minimum) full face to face course

  • Online Training with Face to Face Assessment - self paced online learning with a scheduled 2 hours face to face practical assessment.


Certificate Renewal Requirements

It is recommended that renewal for this course is undertaken every 3 years, with the additional requirement of updating the CPR component every 12 months.


Course Fees and Payments

Course fees for this course is $170.


Payments terms - Payments for individual participants is upfront on the day unless prior agreements have been made.

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks -

    • Perform CPR on an infant

    • Anaphylaxis (allergic reaction)

    • Choking with airway obstruction

    • Head injury/ Unconscious breathing casualty

    • Bleeding and shock

    • Snake or funnel web spider bite

    • Sprains and fractures

    • Seizures and epilepsy, including febrile convulsions

    • Poisoning and toxic substances

  • Practical scenarios -

    • Perform CPR on a child

    • Perform CPR on an adult

    • Breathing difficulties – Asthma

  • Documentation - The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard:

    • Incident report forms

  • Theory assessment - A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
